What an exciting week it has been!
The children thoroughly enjoyed attending their first Forest School sessions. They explored the Forest School area, playing hide-and-seek and investigating their surroundings to discover what exciting dens they could build and which creatures they could find.
In English, the children received the story My Cat Likes to Hide in Boxes through Professor Klunk's portal. They enjoyed discussing what the baddy cat might be doing and where he could hide. They then invented brand-new police cars to catch him! The children came up with some fantastic independent ideas and are becoming more confident in remembering to use the quest codes of capital letters, finger spaces and full stops in their writing. We are very proud of the progress they have already made in their English books.
In Maths, we have continued our place value topic. The children have been counting backwards and finding one less than a given number. They have also been comparing objects and quantities to decide which groups have more or fewer.
In Sounds-Write, the children have continued learning different ways to spell the /ae/ sound and have been consolidating their learning through their reading books.
In Science, the children have been learning the order of the seasons and identifying some of the events that happen during each season. They then had a go at sketching their ideas in their books.
In Computing, the children have enjoyed their topic all about technology. They have been identifying the different parts of a laptop and a desktop computer and discussing how they are similar and different.
In Art, the children have enjoyed exploring the work of Wassily Kandinsky. They identified the primary colours and used paint to mix these colours to create the secondary colours: orange, green and purple.
Thank you for all of your continued support as the children continue to settle into their new routines and classes.
A reminder for next week: please send your child to school with a plastic bag on Thursday for their Forest School session. This will allow them to put their muddy wellies in a bag afterwards rather than getting mud on their clothes.
Thank you!
Mrs Morris
