What a fantastic week of learning we have had in Year 3! The children have worked incredibly hard across all areas of the curriculum and have shown great enthusiasm in every lesson.

In Maths, we bloghave been exploring how to add and subtract 1, 10 and 100 from numbers up to 1,000. We have focused carefully on understanding the different place value columns within a number and have been using a range of equipment to help us recognise and represent numbers in different ways. The children have become much more confident at explaining the value of each digit and spotting patterns when numbers change.

In English, we stepped into the shoes of Agatha and wrote diary entries from her point of view. We used first-person writing, past tense verbs and exciting vocabulary to retell the many adventures that Agatha and the yetis have experienced over the years. We then continued reading our class book and discovered that Con took the yetis to the Hotel Himalaya. Thankfully, a helpful lorry driver called Perry agreed to transport the creatures across the world to Britain. We cannot wait to find out what happens next!

In Spanish, we learned how to say and sign a variety of greetings. It has been wonderful to hear some of the children confidently using these greetings around the classroom throughout the week. Their enthusiasm for learning a new language has been fantastic.

This morning, we enjoyed another exciting Forest School session. Although the environment was a little soggy after the recent weather, the children embraced the outdoors and had a wonderful time exploring. They worked together to build dens and enjoyed an awesome game of hide and seek amongst the trees.

We are incredibly proud of all the hard work Year 3 has put in this week and look forward to another amazing week of learning next week! 😊
