We’ve had a fantastic week in Year 3!

In Maths, we have continued our unit of Addition and Subtraction. We have looked at adding and subtracting 2 numbers with no exchange using the column method.

In English, we finished our class text ‘The Abominables’ which saw the yetis back safely in Farley Towers along with Aggie, Lady Agatha’s great niece. Father yeti also made an appearance again in the last chapter as he had been flown back to England due to the sad passing of Lady Agatha in the valley of Nanvi Dar.

In Science, we completed an experiment to see how water is transported through plants. We started the experiment off with white flowers in glass jars full of water which we then added food colouring to. The children predicted that the petals will change colour, which in the morning we discovered was true.

In Geography, we looked at what seasonal farming is and what farmers have to do on their farms at different points in the year. We thought about which months would be the hardest/easiest for the farmers during the year.

In Art, we created different flower patterns by drawing in steps to see how a drawing should progress through the different stages. The children all did amazing drawings, including lots of detail and shading in their work.

In RE, Rector Andrew came into school and shared why he chose to serve and follow God.  We listened carefully to what he told us, and Rector Andrew answered the questions that we had written about how and why he serves God.

I hope you have a lovely weekend,

Miss Hunter
