We’ve had a busy and exciting week in Year 2!

In English we finished reading Katie in London, which the children thoroughly enjoyed! We created an emotions graph to track how Katie felt throughout her adventure. We also built a timeline of events and identified time adverbials that we would like to use to help us prepare for writing our own recounts next week.

In our History lessons, we’ve been comparing Queen Elizabeth II and Queen Victoria. The children did a fantastic job identifying similarities and differences between the two monarchs.

This week in Science, we explored the concept of survival. We talked about the difference between a want and a need, and the children showed a great insight into what living things truly need to stay alive.

Today, we’ve started making our bags for Paddington! The children have been very enthusiastic about designing and beginning to construct their bags, thinking carefully about what materials they are using and the purpose of the bag. We can’t wait to see the finished products!

In RE, we reflected on how we can help make the world a better place. The children shared thoughtful ideas about how we can care for our environment. It was a lovely reminder of the positive impact we can all have.

We’ve continued working on addition and subtraction, focusing on using our number bonds to help when crossing a ten. The children have been practising their mental maths strategies and showing great progress.

Have a lovely weekend!
