Hello everyone! What a busy and exciting time we've had in Year 1! We've been exploring, learning new things, and having lots of fun together.
Last week, we went on a fantastic walk around Standish as part of our fieldwork. We saw so many interesting things in our local area! It was great to get out and about and see the world around our school.
In English, we've been enjoying the lovely story, "The Crocodile Who Didn't Like Water" by Gemma Merino. It's about a little crocodile who doesn't like water and prefers climbing trees! We've been talking about why the crocodile felt lonely and how it's okay to be different and to have your own special talents. We even talked about how the crocodile turned out to be a dragon who was meant to breathe fire and fly instead of swimming.
In Maths, we've been busy learning about part-whole models and number sentences. We've been using lots of different objects to help us understand how numbers can be split into parts and put back together again to make a whole. It's like solving puzzles with numbers!
We always love our Forest School sessions, and this time was no different! We enjoyed exploring the outdoors, building dens, and discovering all sorts of natural wonders. It's so much fun to learn and play in nature.
We had a special visitor in class: Rector Andrew! He came to talk to us about why Christians pray. We learned about different kinds of prayers, like saying thank you, saying sorry, and asking for help. It was interesting to hear about how prayer is a way for Christians to talk and listen to God.
We have some exciting news! Next week, we are going on a school trip to Imagine That! Science and Discovery Centre in Liverpool. It's going to be a fantastic day filled with science, discovery, and lots of fun activities!
An email has been sent out with details about what to wear. Please remember to come to school in your school uniform, including your jumper. However, because we will be doing a super fun slime workshop as part of our trip, you can wear a different top underneath your school jumper. This is so we don't mind getting it a bit messy with the slime! Don't forget, we get to make our own slime to take home! We can't wait!
See you all next week for our adventure!
