Wood Fold's Sporting Success 2025-2026
The 2025–2026 academic year has been another outstanding one for sport at Wood Fold Primary School, with pupils demonstrating exceptional commitment, teamwork and sporting excellence across a wide range of competitions.Throughout the year, children from every year group have represented the school with pride, embracing opportunities to compete, develop new skills and promote the school's values of determination, respect and resilience. Participation in extracurricular clubs and inter-school competitions has remained exceptionally high, allowing more pupils than ever to experience competitive sport. One of the year's greatest achievements was our continued success in athletics. Wood Fold retained the prestigious Town Sports Championship for an impressive 5th consecutive year, while also securing the Year 3/4 Town Sports Trophy, highlighting the strength and depth of our athletics programme across all age groups. Winning the Cricket County Cricket Competition was another major highlight of Wood Fold's sporting success this year!
Our cross-country runners also enjoyed an exceptional season, winning the Overall Graham Jackett Cross Country Competition. Every runner contributed valuable points through determination and outstanding performances, making this another memorable achievement for the school.
Success has extended far beyond these headline victories. Across football, netball, athletics, cross country and a variety of festival events, Wood Fold pupils have consistently displayed excellent sportsmanship, resilience and teamwork. Whether competing for medals or taking part for the first time, every child has represented the school with enthusiasm and pride.Our extensive PE curriculum, lunchtime activities and after-school clubs have continued to provide pupils with opportunities to develop confidence, improve their physical literacy and foster lifelong healthy habits. These opportunities have enabled children of all abilities to enjoy success and build positive attitudes towards physical activity.
These achievements would not have been possible without the dedication of our staff, the encouragement of parents and carers, and the commitment shown by every pupil who has represented Wood Fold throughout the year. As we celebrate another highly successful sporting year, we look forward to building on these achievements in the coming academic year, continuing to inspire every child to enjoy sport, challenge themselves and achieve their personal best. Good luck to all of our Year 6 children moving forward into High School! What will be Wood Fold's loos will certainly be the High School's gain!
