What a wonderful week we have had in Year 3! We are incredibly proud of all the hard work and determination that the children have shown in every lesson.

In English, we spent the week planning, writing and redrafting a recount of the Yetis being attacked. The children worked hard to improve their writing and produced some fantastic final pieces. We focused on using a range of time adverbials and powerful verbs to make our recounts exciting and engaging. The quality of the writing was outstanding, and we could not be prouder of the effort that everyone put in.

In Geography, we learned about seasonal farming and discovered which crops are ready to harvest and eat during different times of the year. We explored how the seasons affect what farmers grow and discussed why some fruits and vegetables are only available at certain times.

In Maths, we began looking at trickier column methods for addition and subtraction. We practised calculating across tens and hundreds boundaries, which can be quite challenging. We were super impressed with the resilience shown by the children as they tackled these problems with confidence and determination.

Spanish lessons were lots of fun this week as the children became our very own Google Translate! Using everything they have learned this term, they were able to translate a whole conversation and then write their own responses. It was fantastic to see how much language they have remembered and applied independently.

We also enjoyed a lovely session in Forest School. Some children showed great creativity by making natural toys using wood stumps, sticks and string. It was wonderful to see teamwork, imagination and problem-solving skills being used outdoors.

In Art, we carefully followed step-by-step instructions to sketch a flower in the style of William Morris. The children demonstrated excellent concentration and attention to detail, producing beautiful pieces inspired by his famous designs.

Well done, Year 3, for another fantastic week of learning. Have a wonderful weekend and we look forward to seeing you all next week! 🌟
