Girls Football Team

Wood Fold Primary School’s girls’ football team enjoyed an exciting run in the Wigan Schools Cup, reaching the quarter-finals before suffering a heartbreaking defeat on penalties.

The girls showed fantastic determination, teamwork and resilience throughout the competition, doing their school proud as they progressed to the last eight. Their journey was a fantastic achievement and reflected the hard work and commitment they have shown on the football pitch.

The quarter-final proved to be a tense and closely fought contest, with the tie ultimately being decided by a penalty shoot-out. Unfortunately, it was Wood Fold who missed out on a place in the semi-finals, as their cup journey came to an end in the cruellest of circumstances.

Despite the disappointment, the girls can hold their heads high after representing Wood Fold Primary School with pride and reaching such a prestigious stage of the competition. Penalty shoot-outs can be an unforgiving way to lose a match, but the experience will provide valuable lessons and memories for the team.

Everyone at Wood Fold Primary School should be incredibly proud of the girls’ efforts, sportsmanship and achievements throughout the tournament. They have shown great character and done themselves and their school proud.

Well done, girls, on a fantastic cup run!
