We've had another fantastic week in Year 2 this week, with lots of hard work and new learning taking place.
In English, we have continued to read 'The Boy Who Grew Dragons' and discussed how difficult it would be to have a pet dragon. Tomas' dragon, Flicker, can't be left alone, his poo is explosive and he often flies around and causes chaos.
In Maths, we have continued to look at Fractions. We have been looking at unit and non-unit fractions and next week we will be exploring equivalent fractions.
In Science, we carried out an investigation to find out what plants need to grow and be healthy. We planted some cress in two plant pots, we put one on the window sill, in the sunshine and one in the cupboard. We will be observing their progress over time and recording the results.
In Geography, we began our 'Fieldwork' unit. We will be comparing the rainfall in Standish to the rainfall in Cape Town. In the first lesson, the children looked at data that had been collected of the annual precipitation in Cape Town. The children then put this data into a bar chart.
In Drama, the children continued to look at the story of 'Little Red Riding Hood'. We considered spacing, facial expressions and actions that would bring the characters to life.
In PE, the children did some preparations for Sports Day. We are really looking forward to it and hope that the weather stays nice and sunny.
Have a lovely weekend!
