We are so excited to share what your little ones have been up to this week in our bright and bustling classrooms! It’s been a week full of curiosity and discovery, and we’re delighted to take you on this journey with us.
**English Adventures with Percy’s Bumpy Ride**
This week, our English lessons have taken us on an exciting adventure with Percy’s Bumpy Ride by Nick Butterworth. The children have been using their imaginations to make predictions and inferences about the beginning of the story. It’s been wonderful to see them engaging with the characters and sharing their ideas about what might happen next. Try asking your child what they think Percy's bumpy ride is all about and who he might meet along the way!
**Exploring Arrays in Maths**
In Maths, we’ve been discovering arrays! The children have been learning how to arrange objects in rows and columns, which is a fun and practical introduction to multiplication. Why not have a go at creating some arrays at home using everyday items like toys or even snacks? It’s a great way to reinforce their learning while having fun!
**A Flying Start in History**
Our History lessons have been soaring high as we learn about the incredible achievements of Amelia Earhart. The children have been fascinated by her courage and pioneering spirit. You might like to ask your child to share a fact they’ve learned about Amelia and discuss why she was such an important figure in history.
**Science Superstars! Exploring Materials**
In Science, we continued our exploration of the properties of materials. We’ve been investigating which materials are bendy, stretchy, or waterproof, and the children have enjoyed hands-on activities to understand how different materials are used in our world.
**Design and Technology: Slider Mechanisms**
In DT, the children have been getting crafty by making their own slider mechanisms. It’s been amazing to see their creativity shine as they design and create their own moving parts. These little engineers have truly impressed us with their innovative ideas!
**Coding Adventures in Computing**
And last but not least, in Computing, we’ve been introducing the children to programming using Bee-Bots. These child-friendly robots have been helping the children learn basic coding and problem-solving skills in a fun and interactive way. Ask your child to show you how they can program the Bee-Bot to follow a simple path!
Thank you for your continued support and enthusiasm. It’s a joy to see how each child is growing and learning every day. As always, if you have any questions or would like any further information about your child’s learning, please feel free to get in touch.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
Warm regards,
Year 1 Team.
