We have had another brilliant week in Year 3 this week, the children have all been working so hard and have produced some fantastic work.

In Maths, we finished our unit on money. We looked at adding and subtracting money, converting pence to pound and finding change. If you can continue to explore this at home with the children, that would be fantastic. The more exposure they have to money, the more confident they will be in this area. Next week, we will be looking at time. Again, if you could continue to support the children with this at home, such as asking them what time it is or showing them how a clock works, this will really help them. Time is something that requires lots of practice!

In English, we have finished reading 'Secrets of a Sunking'. The children thoroughly enjoyed this book and followed the story cover to cover. I was very impressed with their written work this week. They were asked to write a recount in the role of Lil as she and Pepe returned the jar to Tutankhamun's tomb. Their vocabulary choices and desciptive sentences were sensational!

In History, we continued to look at pharaohs. A pharaoh was usually born into a royal family or chosen to rule. From an early age, they were taught how to lead, make decisions and follow the gods so that they could be a successful pharaoh. When a pharaoh died, it was a significant event. Pharaohs were mummified and buried in a tomb and were believed to continue a new life in the afterlife.

In Computing, the children started to build their magazine cover using images and text. They have created a template so that they know where everything will be positioned and have started choosing images and writing captions.

In PSHE, we explored conflict and how to resolve it and the impact of positive and negative peer pressure. The children offered some fantastic insights to a valuable conversation.

In PE, the children continued to work on choreographing their Egyptian dances. These are looking spectacular!

In Forest School, the children had the opportunity to explore and build dens. The forest was quite muddy and there were lots of puddles, which the children loved jumping in. If you can't jump in puddles in your wellies in the forest, where can you?!

Next Wednesday 20th May, is Pizza or Hotdog and Movie Night. Please ensure that your child has returned their yellow form and you have paid via Parent Pay.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
