What a fantastic week we’ve had in Year 4!
English
This week, we have been sharpening our inference skills using the poem The Spider and the Fly. The children explored the two characters in detail, using clues from the text to deepen their understanding of motives and personality. We also had great fun writing Kenning poems, creating our own descriptive riddles that left readers guessing whether the poem was about the cunning Spider or the wary Fly!
Maths
In Maths, we successfully completed our topic on area, with pupils drawing their own shapes and calculating their areas confidently. We also continued practising our 7 times tables, working on building quick, accurate recall both in and out of order.
History
Our new History topic—The Ancient Greeks—has begun with lots of excitement. We have located Greece on a map and discussed when this remarkable civilisation began, setting the scene for the fascinating learning to come.
Science
In Science, we started exploring States of Matter. The children learned about solids, liquids, and gases, and sorted different materials into the correct categories. They are already showing great curiosity about how materials change and behave.
Computing
We have dived into our brand new computing topic today, looking at input and output devices. We had learned how to record, snip and edit a sound file. We have also explored ownership of sound recordings and how to stay safe online.
Well done, Year 4, for another brilliant week of learning!
