What an exciting week we’ve had in Year 2!

This week in Maths, we have been applying the methods we’ve learned to solve addition and subtraction problems. The children have been working hard to use their strategies confidently and check their answers carefully.

In English, we have continued reading Queen Victoria’s Bathing Machine. We imagined what Queen Victoria might have been thinking if she were about to be catapulted into the ocean—there were some very creative ideas! We also made predictions about what Prince Albert might have been constructing for her, which led to some fantastic discussions.

In Art, we focused on our key artist, Stephen Wiltshire, and explored the techniques he uses to create his incredible cityscapes. The children analysed a piece of his artwork which was called ‘New York New York’.

During our Geography lessons, we started our new topic on settlements. The children learned about different types of settlements and began to think about why people choose to live in certain places. This will be an exciting theme to develop over the coming weeks.

This week was Anti-Bullying Week, and we embraced the theme “Power for Good.” The children wore their odd socks to celebrate individuality and took part in activities that helped them understand how kindness and positive actions can make a big difference.

During our Computing lessons, we continued to work on taking photographs. We learnt the difference between portrait and landscape.

Have a lovely weekend!
