We started this week with a trip to the forest. Mrs Grimshaw read ‘Stanley’s Stick’ and the children had lots of fun imagining sticks were different items ranging from fishing rods to magic wands – several of us got turned into frogs!
In our English lessons we continued reading ‘The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch’ by Rhonda and David Armitage. The children drew and wrote about packed lunches they would make for Mr Grinling while he works hard, tending to the lighthouse. We looked at pictures of the top of lighthouses then drew our own and labelled the different features.
In Maths, we have been learning about odds and evens. The children did a great job at working out which numbers from 1-10 are odd and even by sharing counters with a partner.
The children had a fantastic day on sport’s day and showed great sportsmanship. We were delighted that so many families could attend and we hope you enjoyed watching the children and were as proud of them as we are.
Last week, 5 caterpillars arrived – in our class. The children have been observing them everyday and have watched them grow from tiny caterpillars to big fat caterpillars – chrysalis news may be imminent!
Today has been our Father’s Day assembly. The children showed how much their confidence has grown in their performances. We are very grateful to Mrs Jones for organising it for us – we hope you enjoyed it if you were able to attend.
Have a lovely weekend.
