Hello Year 1 Parents!

What a fantastic and busy week we've had in Year 1! Your children have been shining stars, exploring new concepts and having loads of fun along the way. Here's a peek at what we've been up to:

**Sports Day Excitement**
We kicked off the week with our much-anticipated Sports Day! The children ran, jumped, and cheered each other on with great enthusiasm. It was wonderful to see their teamwork and sportsmanship. A big thank you to all the parents who came to support and cheer for the children.

**A Special Father's Day Assembly**
We hosted a heartwarming Father's Day assembly, where the children shared songs and poems dedicated to the dads and special figures in their lives. They worked hard on their performances, and it was lovely to see so many smiles of pride and joy in the audience.

**English: The Adventures of Katie Morag**
In English, we continued our journey with Katie Morag through the story "Katie Delivers the Mail". The children are really enjoying the adventures on the Isle of Struay and are learning about problem-solving and helping others through Katie's exciting day.

**Maths: Discovering Quarters**
Our maths lessons have focused on finding a quarter of shapes and quantities. The children have been using objects and drawings to divide things into four equal parts. You might hear them talking about sharing things fairly at home!

**Geography: Mapping the UK**
We embarked on a geography adventure by learning about compass points, specifically locating North West England. The children are becoming little explorers, eager to discover more about the places around us.

**Science: Summer Wonders**
In science, we've been continuing our exploration of the summer season. The children have observed changes in nature, talked about how summer feels, and discussed how we enjoy this warm season. We're encouraging them to notice seasonal changes in their surroundings.

This week, your children have shown so much enthusiasm and have accomplished a lot. Thank you for your continuous support and for encouraging their learning at home. We look forward to more exciting adventures in the coming weeks!

Wishing you all a lovely weekend,

Year 1 Team
