Wood Fold Cricket
The Wood Fold Cricket team took part in the Wigan School Games Cricket Competition yesterday, which was held at Orrell Cricket Club. Throughout the tournament, the team demonstrated excellent teamwork and communicational skills, as well as delivering high-quality bowling, batting and fielding against the opposition. During the group stage, Wood Fold defeated St Luke’s and OSJ B to make it through to the semi-finals, were they met Newfold.
The team fielded and bowled tremendously well, keeping the opposition’s runs and score to a minimum, with only 39 runs to win. With this, the team batted brilliantly and made it through to the finals against OSJ A. The game was a tight one, with both teams batting and fielding superbly! Unfortunately, the team was defeated by a mere 4 runs. Nonetheless, the children kept their heads held high and were awarded with the silver medals. Player of the tournament goes to Samuel for his outstanding batting and bowling skills. A great achievement and experience from the players, who I have no doubt will come back stronger and more determined than ever next year!
