We’ve had a fantastic and very full week in Year 4!
We are really proud of the hard work and determination the children put in to their assessments this week. It is great to see their efforts pay off!
In Maths, we have been adding and subtracting fractions and mixed numbers, as well as finding equivalent fractions.
In English, the children have been writing diary entries from the perspective of Rhianna, focusing on conveying the character’s thoughts and feelings and how these change throughout the story. I have been so impressed with the detail and the powerful vocabulary! We have also been using adverbial openers with accurate punctuation and expanded noun phrases to help describe the character of Boudica.
In Art, we analysed the work of Georgia O’Keeffe and Henri Matisse, exploring the different techniques each artist uses in their still life drawings. The children worked hard to be art critics and seek out the similarities and differences between the two artists and their work.
In Geography, we located Italy and the UK on the map and discussed the differences in their climates and biomes.
In Science, we explored how animals can be classified by their key characteristics, and the differences between vertebrates and invertebrates. We have especially enjoyed British Science Week, taking part in a live lesson all about space, creating our own space-themed movie strips, and learning about a range of scientific careers and the curious questions scientists ask in their work.
This week’s homework is the DT carousel on spotlights, spellings and TT Rockstars. Please ensure children are logging into Garage mode and completing 20 minutes of practice each week, as our times tables test is quickly approaching. Wishing you all a lovely weekend!
