We've had a fantastic week in Year 3!

In Maths, we have finished our unit on Length and Perimeter. The children learned that the perimeter is the length of the outline of a 2D shape and how you can calculate this.

In English, we have finished our class text of 'The girl who lost a leopard' and the children wrote some amazing descriptive paragraphs to describe Jansz! I loved reading all the fantastic pieces of work that included lots of excellent expanded noun phrases.

In Geography, we carried on our unit of 'Rivers' and looked at the positive and negative impacts of flooding. The children came up with their own great ideas as to why flooding can be a positive or a negative event.

In Science, we finished our unit on 'Rocks' by answering the enquiry question 'How do different rocks change over time to form fossils and soils?' I was amazed at how well the children answered this question, using their knowledge from the topic and being independent thinkers!

In Computing, we have finished our unit on Scratch, and we have made some amazing sequences to make a musical instrument. The children were able to use all their learning from the previous lessons to help them make their final piece.

It has been Children's Mental Health week this week, so we had a session all about belonging. The children had to think about where they feel like they belong (e.g. sports clubs, family, friends etc.) and create a map to show this. It was a lovely activity for the children to complete alongside listening to some mindfulness music.

After half-term we will be starting our Forest School sessions, a letter will be sent out prior to us starting to state which day of the week it will be taking place and when the start date is.

I hope you all have a lovely half-term, I can't wait to hear what you all get up to!
