We have had another great week in Year 3.
Tinker Mc Jingles, the Year 3 elf, has been up to all sorts of mischief this week, including filling our intervention room with balloons, throwing snow balls in the classroom and hiding in Miss Hunter's lunch box! He really is a very cheeky elf!
In English, we have nearly finished our class text, 'Stig of the Dump'. We were introduced to some trouble-makers in Chapter 5, called 'The Snargets'. In Chapter 6, Barney and Stig worked together to stop two thieves from stealing Grandma's jewellery and silver and in Chapter 7, a leopard escaped from the circus and ambushed the fancy dress party, fortunately, Stig appeared and frightened it away with his spear.
In Maths, we finished our unit on Multiplication and Division and decided to revisit some of our previous units. The children had a go with some addition and subtraction problem solving questions and had lots of practice with the column method.
In Science, we identified and grouped animals with and without a skeleton. We learned that a living thing without a back bone is called an invertebrate and a living thing with a back bone is called a vertebrate. The children demonstrated their understanding by grouping the living things accordingly.
In History, we explored how the settlements and lifestyle changed from the Stone Age to the Iron Age. We watched a fascinating video that showed us inside one of Northern Europe's best preserved Stone Age villages, Skara Brae. It was incredible to see what still remained from 5,000 years ago!
This week, the children have been bringing money in to take part in a fund-raising event organised by our School Council. They have been guessing the name of the bear or guessing how many sweets are in the jar. The winners will be revealed next week!
It was great to see everybody wearing their Christmas Jumpers on Wednesday. Christmas Jumper Day is one of 'Save the Children's' biggest annual fundraising events. The money raised on Christmas Jumper Day will help children in the UK and all around the world stay safe, healthy and learning - and change their future for good. Thank you for your kind donations.
We hope you have a lovely weekend.
Next week is the countdown to Christmas!!
