In Drawing Club, we have been exploring the story Billy’s Bucket by Kes Gray. The children really enjoyed using their imaginations to think about what they might find inside a magical bucket, just like Billy. They came up with some wonderful ideas and worked hard to draw and talk about their creations, using lots of exciting vocabulary inspired by the story.
In maths, we have been learning about odd and even numbers. The children have been practising how to spot whether a number is odd or even and have enjoyed exploring this through practical activities. We have also been looking at doubles, using our knowledge of number to help us find and recall doubles more confidently. Alongside this, we have started to explore repeated patterns, noticing and creating patterns using colours, shapes and objects.
In art, we have been learning about the artist Vincent van Gogh, focusing on his self-portraits. The children looked carefully at his work and talked about what they could see. They then created their own self-portraits using pastels, taking time to look closely at their own features and think about the colours and marks they were making. We were very impressed with their effort and creativity.
It has been a lovely week of learning, and the children have shown great enthusiasm and curiosity in all areas.
Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs Dyson and Miss Southway
