Quality Mark Award
Welcome back to the Wood Fold PE & Sport’s blog of 2026-2027. It is here were you will find out all the latest news and achievements regarding Wood Fold’s sports and PE across school.
We are delighted to announce that Wood Fold have achieved the ‘Quality Mark Award with Distinction’ from the Association for Physical Education (afpe). Throughout last year, Mr Carr completed an application for the award and we had a special visitor who popped into school last year and gave his verdict on the high-quality PE that takes place on a daily basis.
The assessment panel then considered our application, together with the feedback from the validation, and the afPE is delighted to award Wood Fold with the ‘Quality Mark with Distinction’ for ‘demonstrating outstanding commitment to improvement in Physical Education, School Sport and Physical Activity’. Our award is valid for three years, commencing July 2026. The validator has highlighted the following reasons for the award:
- Outstanding, bespoke, well-balanced curriculum which meets the needs of all pupils, including SEND pupils.
- Excellent assessment and tracking system used to ensure pupil progress and adaptive teaching.
- Outstanding extra-curricular, competition, active breaks and community links provision.
A huge congratulations and well done to all of the children, staff and parents of Wood Fold for making this happen. Wood Fold will now feature on the ‘honours board’ on the afpe website.
