This week, we have continued to learn our class and school routines, and the children have impressed us with how quickly they are settling in. 

We introduced Drawing Club, our approach to teaching English. We read The Everywhere Bear by Julia Donaldson and shared our own class bears, which the children are very excited to take home at the weekend—just like the class in the story. 

In geography, we learned our school’s address and located it on a map of Standish. The children enjoyed talking about the places they know in the local area and helped to create a page for our floor book. 

In history we read the Peepo by Allan and Janet Ahlberg and talked about the different members of our own families. 

We also began our phonics journey, learning the sounds /s/, /a/, /t/, /i/ and /m/ and using them to build and read simple words. 

Throughout the week, the children have loved spending time in the classroom and exploring our outdoor areas with growing confidence.
