We have had another brilliant week in Year 2 this week.

In English, we started reading a poem called 'The Dragon Who Ate Our School'. The children loved reading the poem and learning it with some actions too!

In Maths, we completed our learning on 'Position and Direction' and have been recapping some of the trickier maths units that we have covered in Year 2. We had another look at telling the time. First, we focused on o'clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to and then we looked at 5 minute intervals.

In Science, we have been learning about different materials. The children were fascinated to learn about two inventors whose inventions revolutionised the world today!
First, we looked at Charles Macintosh, who invented the waterproof material that a rain mac is made out of today!
We also looked at Ole Kirk Christiansen, who invented Lego. He was an excellent toy maker and a skilled carpenter, who began is career crafting wooden toys. Eventually, his workshop was the first to own a plastic moulding machine and his wooden toys were soon made from plastic.

In history, we continued to look at Neil Armstrong, Mae Jemison and Matthew Henson. We looked at what these explorers achieved in their life time and how their work impacted on life today.

On Tuesday evening, some of the children attended our end of year disco! They had such a good time singing and dancing to all the songs!

On Tuesday and Wednesday this week, the children had taster sessions in their new classrooms, with their new teachers. The Year 2 children are very excited to move up to the juniors and are definitely Year 3 ready!

I hope you have a lovely weekend and enjoy the sunshine!
