Hello everyone, and welcome to our weekly class blog! This week has been a whirlwind of adventure and creativity. We've been busy exploring the great outdoors, getting creative with circles, and becoming super speedy with our numbers. Let's dive in!

We had a brilliant time at Forest School this week! We put on our waterproofs and wellies and headed out for an afternoon of outdoor exploration. We used all our senses to discover the world around us.

In English, we have been on a curious quest of our own, inspired by the fantastic book Angelica Sprocket's Pockets by Quentin Blake. We imagined all the amazing and silly things that could be hiding in her overcoat. The children came up with so many brilliant ideas, from a pet dragon to a whole kitchen sink! We wrote our own descriptions of what we would keep in our own imaginary pockets, using lots of fantastic describing words.

We have been getting super speedy with our numbers up to 10 in Maths! We used the number line to help us compare numbers and decide which one was greater than and which one was less than. We even used our brilliant new words to explain our answers to our friends. We’ve been using lots of fun objects to count and compare, making sure we know exactly where each number lives on the number line.

Get ready for some truly creative creations! We explored the art of Wassily Kandinsky, the famous artist who loved using shapes and colours. This week, we created our very own concentric circles masterpiece. We loved mixing and layering different coloured paints to make colourful circles, just like Kandinsky. Our final pieces are fantastic and full of bright colours!

In Science, we continued our topic on the five senses. We have been learning all about how we see, hear, smell, touch, and taste the world around us. We used our senses to explore and learn new things.

Our Geography lessons have been all about finding our way! We learned about the four main compass points: North, East, South, and West. We practised using a compass to find the different directions.

On Friday, we all wore something yellow to mark World Mental Health Day! It was lovely to see so much sunshine in our classroom. We talked about our feelings and emotions and learned how important it is to be kind to ourselves and to each other. We learned that it’s okay to feel sad sometimes, and that talking to a grown-up can help. Our day was a reminder that we are all part of a big, kind team.
