As the end of the school year rapidly approaches, it is hard to believe how quickly the weeks are flying by. We have continued to work hard and enjoy lots of exciting learning experiences this week.

This week in History, we have been looking at the legacies that explorers have left behind. Neil Armstrong’s moon landing showed that people could explore space and it helped scientists to  learn more about the moon. Neil Armstrong inspired many people to become astronauts, scientists and engineers and continues to be remembered for his bravery and determination.

In English, we wrote a setting description of the Snow Palace that Sika and Shen reached at the Top of the World. We then explored how the characters were feeling and identified evidence from the text to support our ideas.

In Science, we investigated different materials to see how they can be changed, for example by being squashed, stretched, or bent. We also learned about Charles Macintosh and discovered that he invented the waterproof material used to make raincoats.

In Spelling, the children have been practising adding the suffixes -ment and -ness to words.

The children have also spent some time in Year 3 and have had a little taste of what life will be like next year.

Have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Wilcock
