Y5 Football Tournament

Today, our Year 5 football team took part in the annual Year 5 football competition, which was held at Laithwaite Park in Wigan. The children played 7-a side in each match under extremely hot conditions. The team battled hard in each game, showcasing excellent attacking and defending, as well as passing, dribbling with the ball and shooting on target.

The team were put into group 7 against six other teams. Overall, the team won 2, lost 2 and drew 1, which ultimately didn’t see them progress onto the quarter finals. However, this did not discourage the children, as they took part in friendly fixtures against other schools, which resulting in winning all three.

The player of the tournament goes to Yahya (Y5) for his outstanding tackling, dribbling and determination to do well for the team. A great effort today from the boys! Hopefully, we will see them progress further in October in the Year 6 competition.
