Happy New Year!

We have had a brilliant week in Year 3 this week; the children came back in to school refreshed and ready to jump into a new term!

In English, we started reading our new class text, 'The Girl who Lost a Leopard' by Nizrana Farook. Selvi is an adventurous young girl who loves to run free in the mountains, however she is horrified to find that there are dangerous hunters stalking her beloved leopard, Lokka. Selvi remained hidden so that the hunters didn't discover her but unfortunately they found her anklet, which will lead them straight to her!

In Maths, we have continued with multiplication and division. We have looked at multiples of 10, inlcuding multiplying and dividing by 10 and related calculations. Next week, we will be looking at multiplying a 2 digit number by a 1 digit number with and without an exchange.

In Science, we started our new topic, Rocks, Soil and Fossils. The children were fascinated to learn about the three different types of rock and how they are formed.

In RE, we started our new topic on Christianity - Jesus, and the children explored the meaning of a leader and what it means to be a good leader.

In Music, Mrs Jones explained a method to the children for naming the notes in a musical scale: Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Sol, La, Ti.

This week, the children have also completed enquiry questions and end of unit quizzes to showcase their knowledge from the previous term.

I hope you have a lovely weekend, see you next week!
