Happy New Year everyone!  

We have had a fantastic start to 2026.  The children have settled back into their learning quickly and worked hard.

 

This week in English, we explored the characters Virgo, Elliot, and Thanatos, focusing on their reactions to discovering the Chaos Stones.

In Maths, we worked on related facts and informal written methods to strengthen our multiplication and division skills. We also concentrated on rapid recall of all the times tables. Please keep practising your timetables daily, it is so important. 

 

In DT, we began our new topic: structures and mechanisms.  We analysed and evaluated different types of spotlights, learning about their special features and where they are commonly used.  We are looking forward to designing and building our own mini spotlights complete with a functional switch. 

 

In Art, we completed our masks by painting them, adding the finishing touches to our creative work.

 

In Computing, we learned how to create podcasts and practiced using the snip and align tool.

 

In RE, we started our new unit on Sikhism, exploring the key beliefs and practices. 

 

Homework this week includes a Science learning postcard where the children get to discuss all their learning from the previous unit on states of matter.  This gets stuck into their science books so please can these be returned by Wednesday.

 

There is also spellings, and times tables practice on TT Rockstars.
