Regional Finals
After the success from winning both the Wigan Boccia and New Age Kurling events, Wood Fold are through to the ‘Regional Finals’, where they will face teams from all over the North West. The Kurling finals will be held in a couple of weeks’ time at Bolton Sports Arena and the Boccia finals will be held in Liverpool later in the month. Both teams will be training hard for the events and are extremely proud to be representing Wigan.
Sports Day
Fledglings, Reception and KS1 will be competing between 9.15 am and 11.15 am, and KS2 will compete between 12.30 pm and 2.30 pm. All children will need to wear their Wood Fold PE kit which they will get changed into when they arrive at school. Fledglings children should wear trainers, shorts and a t-shirt. Please also ensure that your child has a suitable kit (e.g. tracksuit) in case of cooler weather, and should the sun be shining brightly, please ensure that you have applied sun cream before they come to school.
Our events on track and field will be:
- Sprint race
- Three spring jump
- Archery (KS2)
- Beanbag/howler throw
- Non-competitive obstacle course
- Hurdle race.
We look forward to a fun and exciting Sports Day and hope everyone can join us for our family picnic from 11.30 am for all children. Children who currently have a school dinner will have a ‘picnic bag’ prepared for them so they can also eat outside on the day. Please can we politely ask that you remember to take all your litter home. May I also take this opportunity to remind spectators not to cross the barrier tape when the events are taking place. Our teachers will be taking lots of photographs of the children for their class blog, but if you do want to take photos, please can we respectfully ask that you focus solely on your child.
We have again arranged for the Really Awesome Coffee company to provide both hot and cold beverages and snacks for you to purchase should you wish to, and DJ Danny will also be onsite entertaining us in his unique style with music and banter!
Please can we remind you that parking on the visitor’s car park on this occasion is for holders of disabled badges only. Please do not park on St Marie’s Church car park. Remember to bring your picnic blankets, deck chairs, sun cream etc and fingers crossed for good weather!
