This week in Year 4 has been super exciting!

In English, we have been exploring Rhianna’s thoughts and feelings, which has helped us begin planning our own diary entries written in role as Rhianna—the children came up with lots of brilliant ideas to express Rhianna's rage!

In Maths, we have been converting between mixed numbers and improper fractions, then using number lines to help us find equivalent fractions. This has been challenging but we have started to understand that a fraction is a division calculation.  We are now revising dividing with reaminders and applying this to converting an improper fraction to a mixed number. For example 27/5 means 27 divided by 5 which equals 5 remainder 2, so this is equivalent to 5 and 2/5. 

 In Science, we started our new topic on animals and their habitats, looking at different animal groups, their characteristics, and how we can classify them based on similarities.

In Geography, we continued learning about climates and biomes, discovering how different places around the world have their own climates and biomes relating to how close they are to the equator.

In Art, we began our still life topic by analysing the work of Henri Matisse and Georgia O'Keefe. We compared their similarities and differences and completed our 'Artist on a Page'.

We had a fantastic time celebrating World Book Week! We were very lucky to have a visit from author Emma Reynolds, who wrote Amara and the Bat, and she taught us how to draw an amazing bat of our own.

On Thursday, the children looked wonderful in their costumes—it was lovely to see all the creative outfits. The children designed new book covers for their favourite books, wrote comic strips and book reviews.

This week’s homework is a History Carousel on the Ancient Greeks, spellings, and plenty of TT Rockstars practice on Garage. Have a great weekend!
