This week we have been learning about Chinese New Year. We have been Spring cleaning and beginning to make decorations for our home corner. After lots of requests from the children for more babies, we developed a new baby area where lots of lovely interactions and role play has been taking place. It has been lovely to see children sharing their experiences of having younger siblings with others who will be welcoming new babies into their families soon.
We read Julia Donaldson's 'The Magic Paintbrush' in Drawing Club and let our imaginations run wild thinking of things we might paint. We even had a go at painting images and Chinese symbols with traditional brushes. The children have shown lots of interest in dragons and have enjoyed learning a dragon dance song in music as well as crafting their own dragons - we are planning to continue this next week.
We have been exploring doubles in Maths and the children were mesmerised by a 'magic' doubling box which sadly only worked for Mrs Harris! We also represented the numbers 6, 7 and 8 in different ways.
in PE we continued travelling and jumping, adding balances into our repatoir and in RE we learned about the story of David and Goliath.
We are very much looking forward to welcoming some of you into school for phonics sessions next week.
Have a lovely weekend
Mrs Harris
