What a busy and exciting week we’ve had in Year 2!

We have continued reading Baker’s Boy and spent time exploring how Will might have felt when he was chosen to light the gunpowder. The children shared some fantastic ideas about his emotions and used evidence from the story to support their thoughts. We also worked hard to order the events from the story, showing how well we understand the plot so far.

This week in Maths, our focus has been multiplication. The children have been writing multiplication sentences and matching them to arrays. They then used grouping and sharing to make equal groups, helping them build a strong foundation for understanding division.

In DT, the children learned about important food hygiene rules and discussed why they matter when cooking. We also explored the key ingredients needed to bake a cake and designed our own cake ideas. We are very excited to start making cakes next week!

In Music, the children have been learning to play Hot Cross Buns on the recorder. They have practised the notes A, B and G and are becoming more confident each lesson. It was lovely to hear them playing the recorder together in unison.

As part of Storytelling Week, we listened to the story Vlad and the Great Fire of London. The children really enjoyed learning about this event through the eyes of the little flea, Vlad!

Well done, Year 2—another great week of learning.

Have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Wilcock
