We have had another brilliant week in Year 3, here’s what we have been up to!

The week started with a delivery from the North Pole. Father Christmas sent one of his elves, Tinker McJingles, to come and keep an eye on the children during the lead up to Christmas. On his arrival, he brought two chocolatey advent calendars, then he made a zip line with string from one classroom to the other, he used Miss Hunter’s stash of wooden letters to spell his name and he even sneaked into Miss Robinson’s classroom and decorated himself with stickers. I think the children are going to have to keep their eye on him!

In English, we wrote a diary entry in the role of Barney after he had visited Stig during the winter. The children wrote with such creativity, their writes were phenomenal! They included new and exciting vocabulary, different sentence openers and the thoughts and feelings of Barney.

In Maths, we have been doing a lot of work with the 8 times table. We have been multiplying by 8, dividing by 8 and then using our knowledge of the 2s, 4s and 8s to answer some questions.

In Science, we learned that there are 206 bones in the body and 106 of those bones are in our hands and feet! We built our own skeletons and labelled them correctly. We also looked at the muscles in our body. We learned that muscles are stretchy tissue that help us to move.

In History, we explored different tools from the Stone Age to the Iron Age. We looked at a selection of tools and discussed their uses.

We just wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of those parents who were able to attend parents evening. The children are always so excited to share their work and successes with you and your continued support is always appreciated.

Thank you,

Miss Hunter
