It’s been another exciting and productive week in Year 2!
In Geography, we have been learning about aerial photographs and their importance. The children identified which London landmarks were shown in the photographs.
In Maths, we have been exploring the properties of 3D shapes by identifying the number of faces and edges they have. We have also been sorting 2D shapes into different categories and explaining the reasoning behind our choices.
In Art, we have been creating cityscape drawings in preparation for our final piece next week. The children sketched various London landmarks using 2D shapes as a foundation. They then enhanced their work by applying different techniques to the buildings, such as hatching and cross-hatching.
In English, the children have written a scene description about the street party celebrating King George V’s coronation. They were encouraged to use effective vocabulary and noun phrases to bring the scene to life. Earlier on in the week, they explored the thoughts and feelings of the staff when encountering Mabel Simms.
In Science, we formulated an enquiry question using the knowledge we have gained to identify and explain how humans can maintain a healthy lifestyle.
We’ve also been working hard to perfect our performance of 'The Inn-Spectors' and we can’t wait to share it with you next week!
Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs Wilcock
