We started the week with a visit from Leanne and Janine, playworkers from the Rainbow Ward. The children found out about the different staff at the Rainbow ward and how they help people. They brought some of the equipment they use for the children to explore, and were very grateful for the money we have raised for them to revamp their soft play area.

On Monday afternoon, we went to the forest. The children were excited to see that the wildflowers seeds they planted some time ago had grown and there was a bed of colourful flowers, which were attracting lots of different insects.  The children had fun exploring and made some colourful bunting to decorate the shelter where we enjoy stories and crafts.

This week in Drawing Club we read ‘Giraffe’s can’t dance’ by Giles Andreae. We designed outfits for Gerald and a tour bus now he is a successful dancer! In Maths, we have been exploring maps. We looked at examples of real maps and maps in stories before representing maps in different ways and creating our own maps for familiar places. We looked at an orienteering map of school and the children were so intrigued by the numbers that we went to find some for ourselves.

In PE the children impressed Mr Carr with their throwing and catching skills both stationary and on the move using a variety of different equipment. The children wowed me with their animal facts homework and everybody drew an African animal and wrote a fact about it.

We ended the week by enjoying watching the KS2 production of Peter Pan – we were very impressed!

Have a lovely weekend.
