This week we have continued with our dinosaur topic; the children have learned which dinosaurs were carnivores and only ate meat and which dinosaurs were herbivores and only ate plants. We have also looked at fossils and learned all about how fossils are formed and where we can find them!
In Drawing Club, we read ‘Little Red Riding Hood’. The children were familiar with the story and enjoyed joining in and reading along. There has been a lot of role play of the story in the classroom with some good re-enactments of the ‘Big, Bad wolf’ and ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ characters.
In Maths we have learning about measure and pattern. The children have compared mass using objects in classroom on balancing scales. We spoke about which objects were the heaviest and which were the lightest. We also compared capacity of different sized boxes and looked at creating simple patterns.
We have introduced new sounds /b/, /c/ and /h/ in our phonics lessons and have built and read words using all the sounds taught so far such as sob, bat, cat, hat and hop.
We had fun in the forest on Wednesday, pretending to be acorns growing into oak trees and creating our own forest school banner.
Have a great weekend,
Mrs Harris
