Welcome to the Year 1 blog! We have had a brilliant week of learning, packed with adventures both in the classroom and outdoors. Here’s a little peek at what we've been up to.
This week in English, we took a trip to the Dairy with the brilliant story, Hairy Maclary from Donaldson's Dairy. We loved joining in with all the rhyming parts. We especially enjoyed meeting Scarface Claw, the toughest tomcat in town!
We focused on using adjectives to describe Scarface Claw and his friends.
In Maths, we became number detectives and worked on comparing numbers. We used special words like 'greater than', 'less than', and 'equal to' to talk about which numbers were bigger or smaller.
We used objects like counters and cubes to help us see which group had more. We used the '>' and '<' symbols to write down our number sentences.
Our bodies are amazing! In Science, we started a new topic about human body parts. We then carefully labelled all the different parts we know, from our head to our toes.
This week in PE, we worked on two very important skills: the underarm throw and dodging. We practised our underarm throw by aiming beanbags into hoops. We remembered to step forward with the opposite foot to our throwing arm.
We hope you've had a fantastic week, and we can't wait to see what next week brings!
