Year 3 have had another busy and exciting week filled with lots of fantastic learning!

In Maths, we practised using our knowledge of number bonds to 10 to help us complete simple addition calculations quickly and accurately. We also reviewed adding numbers in the ones, tens and hundreds columns, discussing which column would change when adding different values. The children showed great confidence when explaining their mathematical thinking.

In English, we continued reading The Abominables. The story took a dramatic turn when the yetis were kidnapped and transported all the way to the Antarctic, where they were being hunted by a terrible group of people. We thought carefully about how the yetis might have felt as they woke up in such a treacherous and unfamiliar place. Using role play and our imagination, we wrote thoughtful thought bubbles from the perspective of the yetis, capturing their fears, worries and hopes.

In Art, we explored the colour wheel using paints. After identifying the three primary colours, we experimented with mixing colours to create the secondary colours and various shades in between. The children enjoyed investigating how different colours can be combined to create new ones. These skills will help us next week when we begin exploring tints and shades, which we will use in our final artwork.

In Computing, we explored a range of different devices and considered the various parts that make them work. We discussed components such as screens, keyboards, mice and processors, learning about the job each part does and how they help us use technology in our everyday lives.

Well done to all of Year 3 for their enthusiasm, creativity and hard work this week. We are looking forward to another week of exciting learning ahead! ⭐📚🎨💻➕
