What an exciting week it's been in Year 1! Your children have been busy exploring new concepts, expressing their creativity, and diving into fascinating topics. Here's a summary of what they've been learning this week:

English This week, we delved into adjectives while exploring the book Emma Jane's Aeroplane. The children used descriptive words to paint vivid pictures of the cities Emma Jane visited. From bustling London to enchanting Paris, they brought these places to life with their imaginative adjectives!

Maths In maths, we've been working on counting in 10s and 5s. The children have been mastering these patterns with enthusiasm, using songs, games, and group activities to solidify their understanding.

History Our journey through aviation history continued as we learned more about the Wright brothers. The children have been captivated by the story of how Orville and Wilbur Wright invented the first powered aeroplane, and they're beginning to understand the impact this had on transportation and exploration.

Science The children explored materials this week, learning about what everyday objects are made of. From transparent glass to sturdy metal, and smooth plastic to natural wood, they're beginning to identify the uses of these materials in the world around them.

Computing In computing, we introduced Bee-Bots—these little robots are a fun and engaging way for the children to learn basic programming skills. They’ve been working on simple commands to guide their Bee-Bots along different paths and obstacles.

Design and Technology Our DT lessons have been all about levers and sliders. The children have been exploring how these mechanisms work and recognising how they can be used.
