Tag Rugby Festival

Some of our Year 3 and 4 children attended a tag rugby festival, which took place on Wednesday at Robin Park. The event was run by the Wigan Warriors Community Foundation with the aim of increasing participation and love for rugby. The morning sessions were skill based, with the children being taught how to pass the ball, play the ball, handle the ball, kick the ball, as well as how to tackle using the tag belts. The children absolutely loved the skills sessions and took a lot of knowledge away with them for the afternoon session. Here, the children played friendly matches against the other Wigan schools who attended the event. The team won 5 of the matches, losing only 1 in the process. Overall the children loved their time at the festival and couldn’t wait to tell their friends back at school all about it.

KS1 Football

Last Friday, five of our Year 2 children took part in a KS1 football event held in Wigan. The boys were up against 14 other schools from across the borough in a round robin format. Throughout the day, the team showed wonderful determination and teamwork to win as many games as possible. The team won 13 of their matches with only one loss in total. Player of the tournament goes to George for his excellent passing and dribbling during the games. George has also been scouted by one of the Wigan Athletic coaches for his impressive performance. We would like to wish George with the best of luck in his trials.
