🌟 What a Busy and Brilliant Week in Year 1! 🌟
We have come to the end of another fantastic week where the children have worked incredibly hard and should be very proud of everything they’ve achieved.

In English, the children really enjoyed working in groups to role play the animal characters from Emma Jane’s Aeroplane. We had some wonderful performances featuring a wombat, pigeon, lion, fox, rooster and even a dragon! The children used expressive voices and actions and loved performing to the rest of the class.

In History, we have learnt all about the Wright Brothers and their very first flight. The children created their own comic strips to show the main events that helped the brothers become world famous after their successful flight in 1903.

Our Maths lessons focused on adding equal groups by counting in 2s, 5s and 10s. We also explored arrays and talked about how many rows and columns each array had. The children showed great concentration and growing confidence with these ideas, and we have now moved on to doubles.

In PSHE, we had thoughtful discussions about how to be a good friend. The children shared some lovely ideas about kindness, sharing and helping others, and drew examples of how they can be a good friend.

During Science, we explored different everyday objects and learnt about the materials they are made from. The children enjoyed handling the objects and talking about why different materials are used for different purposes.

In DT, we have been busy making our very own Jack and the Beanstalk levers. The children were very excited to see how levers work and enjoyed testing their designs. Every single child made their own lever independently - well done!

Finally, in Computing, we practised typing sentences for a missing poster for a child’s lost teddy bear on the iPads. The children focused carefully on using the space bar correctly to leave spaces between words!

Well done to Year 1 for another wonderful week of learning.

We are so proud of you all and are looking forward to even more learning next week! 🌈📚✨
