Parent Information

Parents are their child’s first and most important educators. At Fledglings our aim is to work fully in partnership to ensure their children receive outstanding quality care and education.

Open door policy – each child is allocated a key person who is available at the beginning or end of their session.

Key person role – Settling children into the setting by developing a trusting relationship and supporting their interests.  From this secure base they can explore new ideas and experiences together with the support of parents. Observing, assessing, monitoring them and reporting back this information to parents regularly.

Play along sessions – available throughout the year for parents and carers to join in with their children, see what happened in setting and how they can support their child’s learning and development.

Reports and meetings – provided when information is shared regarding their progress and next steps.

Workshops – to support parents and carers.

Fees – from the term after your child’s third birthday, at present, you are entitled to 15 hours free childcare per week.  You may also be eligible for 30 hours extended funding, for which you must apply.  To check if you are eligible for extended funding, please visit https://www.childcarechoices.gov.uk/.  The hourly charge if attending over 15 hours (or 30 hours if eligible) is £5.00 per hour.

Opening hours – 8.15 am to 3.15 pm every day term time.  Early Birds and Night Owls wrap around care is also available from 7.30 am to 8.45 am, and from 3.15 pm to 4.30 pm (pm 1), and 4.30 pm to 5.30 pm (pm 2).  You are able to use your childcare hours for Early Birds and Night Owls, providing you have hours available, otherwise the charge is £4.00 per session.

Lunchtime – Hot meals are available to purchase, where the children serve themselves independently, or you can provide a healthy packed lunch.  We do ask, however, that products containing nuts and sesame seeds are not brought in to school, as there are children in school who have severe nut / seed allergies.  Please see the menu under the Parents information page.

Term dates – Please see school's term dates.
